“… But isn’t pole dancing for strippers and not appropriate for women?” – that was the exact thought that Kelly, our Founder and Director had, when a friend persuaded her to attend her first ever pole class back in 2009. Boy was she wrong.
Because not only did all her misconceptions go flying out the window after that very first class, Kelly found herself falling in love with pole artistry. She gained a level of confidence that she never knew was possible, and most importantly, she found a true sense of community.
So when Kelly’s local pole studio closed down, and a space to set up her own studio opened up – she decided to put down her Nursing Scrubs, leave her nursing career to take a jump at this new opportunity.
Just Pole Fitness opened its doors in 2014 and Kelly’s ethos for the brand has remained true and the same to this very day:
“…to create a community of strong and like-minded women who empower each other both physically and mentally, by not only pushing their bodies to the limits, but also by providing support to each other through whatever life throws at their way.”
To Kelly, pole dancing wasn’t just about having the flexibility or the ability to do tricks on a pole. It went beyond that, it is an art-form. Pole dancing is not meant to be easy. It requires skill, strength, determination, and perseverance – attributes that are so much more than what it appears to be on the surface!
Since opening, Kelly has been able to share her passion and connect with over 500 women.
Her mission to create a supportive environment where her students can celebrate their wins both inside and outside of the studio. To inspire healthy living, elevated by resilience, while being pushed to their boundaries.
Because even upside down… the world is beautiful.
